Imo State Civil Guard Corps is the brain child and establishment of His Excellency Owelle Anayo
Rochas Okorocha (OON) in 2013. However, it is an off-shoot of the already existing Imo State Orientation Corps under the auspices of the Imo State Orientation Agency.
this transformed Imo State Civil Guard Corps to a paramilitary department of the state government with the sole intention of executing government policies and laws. In 2013, when His Excellency Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha (OON) set up this department, He appointed a well tested personality in the person of Hon. Donatus Ewe Ejifugha as the Commandant General to be the pioneer Commandant General.
Hon. Donatus Ewe Ejifugha is a season retired police officer who have served his Excellency Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha (OON) in various capacities like special adviser on security and advance protocol, Oru East L.G.A Transition Committee Chairman and others.
Since 2004 when His Excellency, chief Achike Udenwa (Onwa) established the Imo-State Orientation Corps, this Government department that have survived ten years existence have also performed creditably well in her capacity as the law enforcement arm of the government.
The issue of illegal trading, illegal hawking and a lot of illegality/illegalities are a thing of past in Imo State as a result of Imo State Civil Guard Corps functions. The Imo State Civil Guard Corps also works in synergy with all military and paramilitary outfits in the state. IMSCGC is a pure unarmed security department.
The three Senatorial zones in Imo State have a zonal commander and the three zones function effectively with the men officers rank and files. Aside the Commandant General, IMSCGC also have Deputy Commandant General, Assistant Commandant, Commandant and Deputy Commandant. The rest include Two Chief Supretendents, Five Deputy Supretendents, Twenty Eight Assistant Supretendents of two stars and One star inclusive, Thirteen Inspectors, Eighty Sergeants, One Fifty Corporals and several Private or Constables.
Presently, the Headquarters office is located at Okigwe Road. Meanwhile, the Governor is building an ultra modern command at Aba Road, Owerri. It is believed in reality that Imo State Civil Guard Corps will continue to grow from strength to strength and the daily braed of the officers and men of the command will continue to flow in jesus name Amen.
